Signal converters

A signal converter converts signals from sensors to industrial power signals, analog input signals to analog output signals, normalizes signals or isolates signals. Critical process measurements such as temperature, pressure, level, speed or current in a manufacturing process are often subject to noise and harsh environmental conditions resulting in erroneous signals. Signal converters help protect the measurements and provide a reliable signal.

There are several types of signal converters; analog-to-digital converters (ADC), digital-to-analog converters (DAC), frequency converters, voltage converters, frequency-to-voltage converters, voltage-to-frequency converters, current-to-voltage converters, power converters, charging converters.

For example, an analog-to-digital converter takes analog signals and converts them to digital values. Digital-to-analog converters convert digital numbers to corresponding voltage or current levels. Frequency converters convert or scale input frequencies to specific output frequencies. Although the different types do different things, they are based on the same principle: receiving one type of signal and outputting it as another.

In the case of signal converters, resolution is a key factor. The higher the resolution of the input data, the more accurate the output will be.
