Hydropower
Hydropower will play a major role in Norway's transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. We supply directly to large power companies that operate hydropower plants or to developers, as well as landowners and municipalities that operate small-scale power plants.
We can offer all kinds of valves used in hydropower.
Valves by type
Butterfly valves
Butterfly valves in welded steel construction with cylinder and weight. With electric actuator or hydraulic actuator. These solutions with the same function as with cylinder and weight for emergency closing with weight and opening with cylinder. Controlled either directly by HPU on the valve or from a control room. DN100 to DN5000 and depending on speed up to PN40. Made according to customer specifications
Ball valves
Ball valves with double seal and controlled as butterfly valve from HPU or other selected control system - DN200-DN2000-max PN100. Welded or forged design
Needle valves
Needle valves are a replacement for old Kvaerner valves. They are supplied manual or controlled by water pressure or oil pressure. Often made according to old drawings then machined or standard cast. DN50-DN500 and max PN150
Plunger valves
Annular valves or better known as Plunger or Axial flow control valves are either manual, electrically controlled or hydraulic with the possibility of emergency shutdown. DN80-DN1000 max 690 bar. Used with various functions such as control of quantity, as a check valve etc.
Hollow jet
Howell jet valves are typically used in systems requiring energy loss and are installed at the end of the pipe. They provide excellent flow control and are not subject to cavitation in any position. Head from 3m water column and up to 10m water column. DN200-DN2000 and max. PN40
Pressure vacuum valves
Pressure vacuum valves in cast and welded construction and with adjustable vacuum. We have delivered several in DN400, DN500 and DN600.
Seat and gate valves
Seat and gate valves in steel and stainless steel from DN15 (PN10) to DN800 and in pressure classes up to PN160, others also possible
Flowmeters
Valves by purpose
Main shut-off valves
Main shut-off valves protect the turbines in the event of upstream failures, so that the turbines are stopped as soon as there is not enough water.
Pipe rupture valves
Pipe rupture valves are installed downstream of the shut-off valve to shut off in the event of sudden increases in water volume/velocity. We also supply flow sensors to monitor water velocity.
Bypass valves
Bypass valves are used to fill the system before the main valve is opened to prevent cavitation when opening against an empty pipeline. Here, at high pressures, it is also common to use energy killers (needle valves).
Air vents
Air vents prevent a vacuum from forming when the water column in the system falls. This can, in the worst case, lead to pipe collapse. The valves ensure venting when filling and emptying pipes.
Control valves
Control valves can be used to reduce or maintain pressure, or level control.
