Lighthouses, buoys and seamarks

The Norwegian Coastal Administration has used Power Coat as its primary paint system for more than 10 years.

The Norwegian Coastal Administration and JS Cock have collaborated to develop the paint system over time, constantly adapting it to new challenges and new products. All contractors that the Norwegian Coastal Administration may use use the same system.

Due to the extreme weather and limited maintenance options, a zinc primer is used as the first coat. The necessary dry film thickness is then built up with Power Coat 3 in 1, which has repeatedly proven to be the best paint system.

Challenges:

Norwegian lighthouses are located in the most weather-exposed locations around Norway, and the choice of anti-corrosion paint system is critical.

All maintenance is done “on site”, under very variable conditions. It is therefore important that the paint system is also weather tolerant, in addition to very good corrosion protection, so that the work carried out is not affected by changing conditions.

Due to geographical spread, it is also important that the paint system is simple, so that it can be used throughout the country.

System structure:

√ Power Coat Wash and Degrease

√ Preliminary treatment to a minimum of C St 2/Sa 2 1/2/Wa 2

√ Power Coat Monoseal 70/20 moisture curing zinc primer

√ Power Coat 3 in 1 for corrosion class C5M
