Balconies and exterior steel structures

The steel profiles were first thoroughly cleaned and prepared. Due to difficult access in several places, Power Coat Rust Inhibitor Mønje was applied to all bare steel due to its excellent penetrating properties. Then Power Coat “3in1” was applied in a minimum of three coats to a dry film thickness of 240 microns.

The condition report, recommendations and procedures were prepared by Norsk Industrivern AS, Sola. They have also carried out a one-year inspection. The farm owner and Norsk Industrivern AS say: “It is very satisfying to see that the Power Coat “3in1” is in such good condition after one year. There are only a few places where we did not achieve sufficient results, either with cleaning or
application, that there are indications of incipient corrosion.”

Challenges:

Strandgården and Sjøgården Boligsameie in Larvik are located right down by the sea, and the conditions are really tough in the fall and winter. Salt fog blows over the entire building mass when there is an onshore wind, and the extent of damage/corrosion was significant before the rehabilitation started. The balcony construction was particularly challenging, with poor construction solutions and corroded steel details with very difficult access.

The contractor was chosen for their skill and accuracy. For the farm owner, quality was most important, not price.

√ Power Coat Wash and Degrease

√ Preliminary treatment to minimum C St 2

√ Power Coat Anti-rust Mønje

√ Power Coat 3 in 1
