Byggmester Neteland AS has given new life to steel girders in a parking garage at Skøyen in Oslo using Power Coat 3 in 1 . The steel girders are located in an exposed environment with a lot of moisture, salt and pollution, and therefore had some serious corrosion damage. The function and load-bearing capacity of the steel girders were first measured and approved before rehabilitation was initiated. Byggmester Neteland will also apply a protective coating to the concrete floor between the floors to protect against further moisture penetration and damage to the floor and girders.
The parking garage had to be in operation during the repair, so the preparation was carried out mechanically. After washing and degreasing, the rust was removed mechanically, before the whole thing was thoroughly cleaned again. The most exposed and rust-damaged frames were first treated with one coat of Power Coat Rust-preventing Mønje, and then two coats of Power Coat 3 in 1 RAL 3009. The frames with a lower degree of corrosion damage were treated with two coats of Power Coat 3 in 1 RAL 3009. Mønje penetrates well into pores and irregularities and has very good covering power due to its high solids content. Mønje is currently lead-free and harmless, so it is completely safe to use for both people and the environment. Combined with Power Coat 3 in 1, you get very good protection against corrosion and a great result that lasts a long time.
