In post-war Germany, Hans Liebherr ran his parents' construction company in southern Germany and discovered the need for tools and machines for the construction industry and house building. Together with designers and craftsmen, he developed the first mobile tower crane in 1949, which became the first product of Hans Liebherr Maschinenfabrik, which was founded in 1949 in Kirchdorf.
